The Catholic Church is definitely not to blame for this!

This. A million times this. I mean only trolls and haters would use this to say that Catholicism in general would approve of this action. Taking people to task who share your faith is NOT a sign a weakness for Pete's sake!

Just think about that. You share a faith with BK.
To us, it is the BEAST.

        I do?

Maybe on a second level basis, but on that argument - your mom shares a faith with BK! Hah!

            Yes, that's my point.

Unless you strangely believe me to be Catholic.

              I thought you were?

If not, I have no idea why I thought this.

AND WHY DIDN"T YOU CORRECT ME BEFORE

I'm Lutheran. I assumed it was obvious to everyone!

I mean, I'm pretty sure I talked about my gay pastor...

Oooooh, I see why you'd be confused now

See Dame Judy Dench in Philomena. Her character is an old Irish woman trying to trace the fate of her illegitimate son. An interesting take on faith vs. reality.

I'm really interested in seeing that movie .

Also, this is what I'm talking about, re: Catholicism can be critical of the horrible things done in their faith without being seen as 'weak'. Philomena Lee is still a very faithful Catholic and has forgiven the nuns for the horrible things they did a long time ago (this forgiveness shocked the Hell out of Martin Sixsmith when he found out about it).

These weren't just miscarried children, they were also infants and toddlers. (from here)

County Galway death records showed that the children, mostly babies and toddlers, had died, often of sickness or disease, during the 35 years the home operated from 1926 to 1961, according to Corless's research. The building, which had previously been a workhouse for homeless adults, was torn down decades ago to make way for houses.
It doesn't seem a very Christian way to deal with dead children and strikes me as one more mail in the coffin of the Catholic Church in Ireland.

although the catholic church is still quite powerful in ireland, incidents like this will help to discredit it and in the long term, consign it to irrelevance.

I only had a peripheral knowledge of the story when I saw the movie. I was completely gobsmacked at her reaction when she learned the truth.

I'm more concerned about the way the poor kids were treated while they were alive than the fact they were buried on 'unconsecrated ground'.
