I have been considering an upgrade in the GPU department. I want to be able to play everything at 2560x1600, maxed settings... including AA!

    AA usually kills my framerate.

That's because AA usually works by essentially doubling the resolution and then downscaling.

Only one kind does this... MXAA I think. The lowest setting simply curves out everything on the screen.

I read a whole explanation of it yesterday.

I get the letters mixed up still

              TXAA is nvidia's proprietary version
              or maybe its FXAA

Some intelligent AA algorithms can just double the resolution of certain parts of the screen, but they all operate on the principle of doubling certain calculations.

Do you think 4k will kill AA? Or at least, diminish its use?

If not, what resolution do you think this will happen? If any?

Completing missions in this game is annoying. I mean, the missions themselves are fine. But afterwards, I have to watch a long cut scene. You can skip. But I'm watching them at least once so I can validly complain about them later.

Nothing will kill antialiasing. Every graphics algorithm has some kind of aliasing that occurs, and the only way to prevent it is to sample differently--which essentially always means recomputing certain parts of the display.

(I am simplifying a lot, by the way)

No dumbass. I meant as like a setting in a game...do the benefits eventually become unable to distinguish from the picture with AA settings off due to the extreme pixel density?

Possibly. But there are other kinds of aliasing in addition to the jagged lines.

Glenn Beck 11min rant about how Watch Dogs will teach your children to be vicious hackers.

                              6mins is a good part.
