By "Han Solo trilogy," do you mean the A.C. Crispin prequels, the ones set on Corellia with the Starbuster, or the pulpy Stars' End ones from before I was born?

I did read the Kevin J. Anderson books and liked them--but I was twelve, and I did realize that the Zahn books were way better.

Personally I had been holding out a small amount of hope for a KOTOR trilogy.

NO MORE GOING BACKWARDS
THE SHIPS GET MORE AND MORE ADVANCED THE MORE YOU GO BACK IN TIME (despite their attempts to make it look like there's been progression)

if we rewind any farther, there won't be a story to tell because everyone will be so advanced and cross over into another plane of existence



and we can't go much farther into the future because then we'll just end up with the monolith scene in 2001 because everyone devolved into monkeys

I thought JJ Abrams was a good director until I saw the last star trek movie. I now think he's a bit of a con artist. Honestly, they should just have Timothy Zahn write a screenplay of the Thrawn trilogy and be done with it. The material's there. I think they lend themselves to movie format. But it makes too much sense and therefore cannot happen.

Also good ****ing riddance, Zahn's books were the only good EU books anyone ever wrote. There was one other, The Truce at Bakura or something like that, that I recall being sorta okay, but other than that, a bunch of total ****.

Plots in all the Star Treks have always been secondary to the interactions of the primary characters. (and most plots were equally weak or absurd and in TOS these absurdities were a trademark)
The interactions in the new movies were done just fine so they were entertaining. The people that think everything Star Trek has to have great meaning (or make sense for that matter) are just plain silly.

The first movie was entertaining. I loved it, and have watched it several times. I really enjoyed the second movie while I was in the theater, and then started to hate it as I thought about it after leaving the movie and can't watch it again, it's too stupid.
