This is a real problem people. It's easy to be supportive of some new restriction when you're attacking a boogeyman. Take anti-bullying laws for instance. It's sad when kids kill themselves over online bullying, so people want to pass laws to make that illegal. What's to keep those laws from being used by the rich and powerful to silence their critics? Do you think that rich and powerful people won't be able to afford expensive lawyers, who can twist and subvert anti-bullying laws into universal gag orders on all criticism?
I realize that's not the same thing as this situation, but it comes down to the same basic principle of freedom. The price of freedom is *******s. It's an unavoidable price. The only way to get rid of *******s is to get rid of freedom. Is that worth it to you? Why not just rise above them and live your own life?
