I'll bet a dollar to a dough-nut that religion is the most discussed topic of conversation here. You don't find that interesting?

they couldn't explain life and suffering go together without a pissing match between God and Satan that makes them both look morally inferior to their victims?

Then you can't demonstrate that anything is real. You don't have any basis for believing that what you sense is real.

Well, I wouldn't attempt to demonstrate that the universe exists by claiming that if there were another intelligent species, it would also believe in the universe. But let's assume the universe does exist. What do we gain by also assuming that polygons are real and not just mental abstractions? It doesn't explain anything.

Are you saying that the existence of the universe explains why we sense it or something else?

Sure, the existence of the universe would explain why we sense it, but I'm asking why dodecagons and such should be seen as real entities that exist even if there is no one around to think about them.

Why do you think physical objects should be believed to exist if there are no humans around to sense them?

I hate the book of Job with a passion. It shows God to be a complete wanker, it makes no sense and yet Christians keep pretending that people just don't understand it's nuances. Here's a clue, when something is idiotic and contradictory, then not agreeing with it is not the same as not understanding it.

I'm pretty sure they didn't know what gravity was either, but strangely it kept effecting them..

Satan is vital. Without it one wouldn't recognize good.

Kid, just found out that for some the bible is open to interpretation.

This basic fact is what separates him from rational people.

                        An example:

One possibility is to interpret Job as a commercial for religion: "Even though you face extreme adversity, you need to come to us and stay the course because in the end it will be revealed that it was God's plan after all and you will get back everything tenfold..." - If that is not advertizing I don't know...

Another possibility is that the underlying meaning of Job simply says that having faith needs to be consistent even in the face of adversity. Otherwise it will serve to nothing. There is truth in that as well.

2 completely different meanings, but depending on your POV both correct.
                        "Ceterum censeo Ben esse expellendum."

My bad. I souldn't have made it sound like something you would actually say.

My chief objection was that you included a spelling mistake and some horrible sentence structure in your fake quote. Like you just did again here.

And someone else believes the correct interpretation is to curse god. That's an actual interpretation. But it's stupid just not as stupid as the interpretation that most atheists make.
