And someone else believes the correct interpretation is to curse god. That's an actual interpretation. But it's stupid just not as stupid as the interpretation that most atheists make.
Do you even have a point ???
If so, please share because Your Clearliness is confusing me.
I don't need to prove it. It's as obvious as anything else is.
The philosophy of mathematics is an entire field of inquiry that people have been probing for centuries. Some of the best thinkers in history disagree with you on this point. So no, it's not "as obvious as anything else."
This thread is like an advert for everyone receiving very basic philosophy education.
Jon Miller: MikeH speaks the truth
Jon Miller: MikeH is a shockingly revolting dolt and a masturbatory urine-reeking sideshow freak whose word is as valuable as an aging cow paddy. We've got both kinds
I'm unclear as to why an atheist should/would read the bible. Seems like a waste of time that could be spent fornicating, stealing and murdering.
Why does anybody read fiction?
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

In this case the "forest" (eg. God's will) it's an intangible, unknowable thing. So missing it is only natural. What is tangible though is that the source telling us to believe in this intangible, unknowable thing is displaying certain types of ignorance (complete disregard for anyone who isn't a rich male) that makes me very much less inclined to view them as authorities on morality. It's like listening to Rush Limbaugh tell you to trust him about what's moral, even though he's clearly in the wrong about women, minorities and many other things.
Once again, I'm going to chalk this up as missing the forest for the trees. The complete disregard for anyone but Job in the story is a narrative feature of the parable (as was Jesus telling the story of Lazarus and the rich man - in which Lazarus in heaven seems kind of a *****, but that not really the point of the story).
“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

I hate the book of Job with a passion. It shows God to be a complete wanker, it makes no sense and yet Christians keep pretending that people just don't understand it's nuances. Here's a clue, when something is idiotic and contradictory, then not agreeing with it is not the same as not understanding it.
I dunno, when Tennyson calls it "The greatest poem of ancient and modern times", I'm much more inclined to listen to him than you .

Saying it's a great poem doesn't contradict anything Kentonio actually said. It's a good poem, but anyone who can take its message seriously is kind of nuts.

Great poems are great because they tell deeper truths. That's the point of poetry - to get at truths that cannot be sufficiently expressed by prose.
