Like, they're saving the life of the child. The only reason I can think of that you would be opposed to this being an overriding prerogative is that you would like to think that a fetus has the same value as a pet rock, so that you can think of women who get abortions as totally guiltless and destroying nothing of worth, and this challenges that notion.

But in this case they clearly are saving something of worth at low cost to anyone.

Before reading the story I was ready to agree with you, but after learning she was only 18 weeks in and had been oxygen deprived long enough to cause massive brain swelling.. sorry, but if the husband and parents are all unanimous that they (and she) don't/wouldn't want this to happen, it should not happen.

It's with the way the tax is structured. It's actually a double tax. It encourages people to spend their money in ways that are really bizarre and wasteful, instead of just leaving it in the bank. It's a large part of why you see mega billionaires in their 70s blowing their money on three yachts and other stupid ****.
