If you still like this law, you're either an idiot, aren't paying attention, or just enjoy ****ing over poor people.
Some people are losing crappy insurance that in actuality, would do shit for them if they became chronically ill with something serious, yes, you're right. Here's a good point from the article I linked:

Regarding that thing about various insurance companies canceling policies, what the concern trolls in the press and especially the tea party Republicans won't tell you is that insurance companies are now required by law to offer new policies to customers that comply with mandatory benefits in the ACA -- benefits that aren't included in cheap, pointless junk policies. Bargain-basement policies with practically nonexistent benefits will now be replaced with similarly affordable coverage that includes expanded benefits ....

    • It's almost as stupid as complaining that people have to pay more to buy a 2013 Mercedes compared to buying a 2010 Camry.

      • Something else from the article:

While reading about several exaggerated, agitprop Obamacare "disasters," I couldn't help but to rewind back to actual health insurance disasters, before the passage of the ACA.

Not only were HIV-positive Americans denied insurance due to rules against pre-existing conditions, but rape victims who were prescribed anti-AIDS drugs as a preventative measure were also denied coverage.

A Pennsylvania man who lost his insurance after being fired was denied coverage because he had a defibrillator implanted in his heart. William Koehler died at the age of 57 when his defibrillator battery ran out because he couldn't afford the surgery to replace it.

Insurance customers with serious conditions like like brain tumors faced premiums and co-pays that nearly doubled following diagnoses -- and that's after the insurance companies often refused to cover certain procedures.

Before the passage of the ACA, an estimated 105 million Americans were covered by policies that placed lifetime limits on benefits, forcing too many of them to forego life-saving procedures because insurance companies refused to continue paying the bills.

A 2009 Harvard study determined that 45,000 Americans died each year due to a lack of affordable health insurance. That's a new 9/11 every month.

The horror stories went on and on. And had the dreaded "Obamacare" law existed years ago, these stories would never have occurred.

        • All that really has to be said is that Obama and the other elected government officials aren't mandated to take part.
When their health from now until death is based on similar insurance as me, then I'll listen.

You're absolutely ****ing retarded. Do you think? Ever? An immediate observation on your analogy is that a 2010 camry is actually a perfectly reasonable car. And second, to make the analogy more appropriate, what the government is doing is saying that you are NO LONGER ALLOWED TO OWN CAMRYS, NOW EVERYONE HAS TO HAVE A MERCEDES. If you can't afford a car now, tough! We're just protecting you from making the stupid decision to buy a car you can afford, even if it isn't as good as we think you deserve!

Jesus christ. What you are saying is that poor people are better off WITHOUT HEALTH INSURANCE than with health insurance you deem to be "substandard" by your subjective preferences. YOUR HEALTHCARE ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH, SO YOU CAN'T HAVE IT AT ALL.

Sorry, hearing people suggest that it's actually a good thing that we are making poor people even poorer makes my blood pressure skyrocket. I'm going to go cool off for a bit.

You're making strawmen with my position. I'm not in favor of making poor people poorer, nor am I in favor of denying people who cannot afford better insurance, to deny them any quality insurance plan that actually does cover them.

With ACA, people are getting premium payment assistance, and tax credits to help pay for better, quality health care plans. Many Americans who find their current plan is being canceled because it's so shitty and so does not meet the new standards enacted, have shopped around in the health insurance exchange, and are finding better deals in terms of price and quality that are affordable to them.

And get this; many states have expanded their state-level Medicaid program to include more people who can qualify for Medicaid. So if they cannot really afford a good enough plan through the health insurance exchange, it's likely then that they qualify for Medicaid now.

You're a media tool; you're buying into the media's hyperbolic coverage and their exclusive focus on only the negatives regarding the rollout of Affordable Care Act and the health insurance exchange.

              • I just realized I can expand this idea of "if it's not as good as we think it should be, you shouldn't be allowed to have it" to the ENTIRE ECONOMIC POLICY of the democratic party. For instance, minimum wage = you shouldn't be allowed to have a job if it doesn't pay as much as we think it should. Unemployed? Too bad! It's for your own good!

Good! So you think that Obamacare needs to be repealed then. Because this is the exact opposite of what is happening under your main man's main law.

No one is finding better deals. In fact, everyone is finding they are paying 3 or 4 or even 10 times as much for healthcare on the individual market. Their healthcare plans MET THEIR STANDARDS. Why shouldn't they be allowed to have it? You think they can't figure out for themselves what they're willing to get? **** you, **** this attitude, **** democrats, **** obama, **** everything. God. And they say the idea that poor people can't make their own decisions is a conservative viewpoint. Actually the democrats are the ones who apparently think everyone is a little child needing to be led by the nose.

Oh good. The program that's going bankrupt can go even more bankrupt, to make up for the fact that we've just denied people health care they used to be able to get. GOOOOOOOOOBAMA!

That's funny. I've read stories about those who have found better insurance plans, who are able to afford them. And I've read stories about those in states that have expanded Medicaid, who cannot really afford a good enough plan in the exchange, will now be covered under Medicaid.

You're being played by the media very well.

                          • I'll give this much to Obama. He recognizes and admits to the failures. It's his supporters that are even more idiotic. MrFun?

Their 'Standards'? You privileged little ****, you think the standard they deserve is a ****ty $50 policy with a $6000 deductible that basically offers no purpose other than to prevent them from having to go into bankruptcy if they get seriously sick? When was the last time you had to worry about an illness costing you your job and your home and making it so you'd struggle to feed your family? Oh yeah never, because you have a rich mommy and daddy who have sheltered you from having to deal with any of this bull****.

They did an analysis of a woman who was complaining about the cost of her insurance doubling, and yes it went from $50 to $100 for the cheapest plan on the exchange. That extra $50 however turned a policy which did virtually nothing into a policy that actually covered her for a basic level of care.

You ****ers keep whining on about choice, since when was getting sick a choice? When was being in an accident a choice? You're basically saying that people have a choice as to whether they give an overinflated sum of money to an insurance company each month or whether they choose to risk having their lives ruined by an unexpected event (which everyone else then gets to pay for). Obamacare is a piece of **** law, but it's a thousand times better than the void that was there before that left 50 MILLION people without insurance, anyone with pre-conditions left to suffer and the rest of your barbaric, inhuman 'healthcare' system that the rest of the world looks at with utter contempt.
