Obama to meet with lawmakers on shutdown Wednesday

WASHINGTON (AP) — A White House official says President Barack Obama has invited congressional leaders to the White House Wednesday for a meeting on the government shutdown.

The official says Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, House Speaker John Boehner, and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi have been invited to the meeting. The official says Obama will urge the House to pass a spending bill to allow the government to reopen.

The government shut down when Congress failed to pass a spending bill ahead of a midnight deadline.

The official insisted on anonymity because the person was not authorized to publicly discuss the meeting before it was announced.

Is Lori's vacation about to end soonish? Did Chris Christie's criticism sting more than I would have thought? Or did the PR misstrep of harrassing WWII veterans force this?

My money's on the birth control thingy going bye bye and everything else back to normal. It's a relatively painless token gift to the Republicans that lets them save face while also defusing a major criticism of Obamacare. Two birds.

Hopefully it's nothing more than a PR stunt to show that the Democrats are willing to sit down their the crazy people. If he offers any concessions he's a ****ing idiot and deserves to be immediately impeached for being too retarded to lead a country.

The two most likely concessions I see being offered are an end to the Congressional exemption to Obamacare and a repeal of the medical device tax (This last one in and of itself would be a slight defunding of the law).

But yeah, this is all about the national debt and Obamacare. They aren't whiny cry babies trying to force their corporatist agenda upon us.

Net neutrality is dumb and awful and holy **** why would you want the government regulating the ****ing internet like that. It's not like you can't get ISPs from a million different places these days. Cable company, phone company, cell phone company, power company...satellites too if you're so inclined and live in bum**** nowhere.
