that is a bad analogy and you should feel bad for making it.

Ambiguous phrasing is not necessarily grammatically incorrect.
not necessarily. however, in this case, it's simply not a valid way of expressing the idea he was trying to express.

It's an awesome analogy and I feel great about it.

Your problem was with his diction, not his grammar.

          • You need to capitalize that first c.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

"Size" without further clarification could mean land area, it could mean land area plus internal water area (lakes and such, like Minnesota), it could mean population, it could mean ****ing volume, and you are hopefully smart enough to figure out from context that it was obviously number 3. ESPECIALLY since land area was irrelevant to the discussion, which was GDP per capita. So instead of drawing the obvious conclusions you went for the cheap shot of "oh ho ho you think Norway is smaller in land area than Singapore, how ****ing dumb are you!"

e: and I didn't even say "size" I just said "smaller than" without specifying a parameter, which again should have been very ****ing apparent based on the context of the conversation. So maybe you need an English language lesson in context clues.

The gun control debate is sparked again by the Navy Yard shooting in Washington. Aaron Alexis killed 12 before being fatally shot by police.

We need to ban shotguns and guards with handguns.
Or, as the New York Times calls them, "Law-enforcement style Pump-actions". Since obviously they can't use "military style rifle" for maxing scare tactics.

He also used special babby-killing shotgun shells:

The gunman then perched himself above an atrium where he fired down on people who had been eating breakfast, officials said, adding that he used shotgun shells that had roughly a dozen large ball-bearing-like shots in them, increasing the lethal nature of each shot.

Probably the same way you can rent traditional hunting rifles.

                            • I was hoping for a Browning Citori for maximum awkwardness in making it sound deadly, but a Remington 870 is also pretty mundane and NYT found itself up to the task.

I only have #4 buck, I bet they'd say it was specially designed to travel through blood vessels or something, or maximize spread and hit multiple targets at once.

                              • What the **** does "law enforcement style" mean? Law enforcement uses the same shotguns as anyone else.
