You can write other stuff in your profile to attract the kind of woman you seek. I was just using stuff I would write as an example. It never fails. Write a whole profile dedicated to your love of a particular TV show or book. It may take a little longer, but someone with similar interests will respond. Despite what judgmental jerkweeds like Elok would tell you, there are a lot of really nice and relatively well-adjusted women out there.

And to detractors... Oh... the internet is okay for finding houses, looking up restaurants, buying things, trading stocks... but dating? HOLY **** ONLY FREAKS DO THAT.

Who's judging? It's not their fault they're crazy; much of the time, they have real issues, e.g. molestation, substance abuse, or emotionally distant parents. Be that as it may, a severely unbalanced woman is a special kind of hell for herself and everyone she comes into contact with. Thankfully I've never dated one, but I've known people who did. Or did you mean "crazy" in the sense of "adorably kooky, perfectly healthy, and played by Zooey Deschanel"?

Evil best friend was a crazy one. I've done the 3 am bathtub phone call stuff. And I wasn't even getting laid. Definitely not doing that again.

Just to clear things up: Sava, I thought you were still doing tongue-in-cheek, like with the running people over in GTA suggestion. And I assumed by "crazy" you meant actually, literally crazy. Just trying to play along. If Lori's in a real funk, it's probably a bad time to start dating. He may find a winner, but he's also got a nonzero chance of a real wacko latching onto him, and even if he does get a winner he won't be able to capitalize on it in his current state--even in the short term.

Lori, I assume you're posting from work (I know what you do, and seriously, it beats the hell out of food service or retail), but do stop by the pharmacy on your way home, all right?

Have to go straight to class after work. Only have class until 6:15 today, though. Will go to pharmacy after class.

                      Awesome

Incidentally, how did you solve your problems with said Evil Best Friend? The other day I overheard one of my students telling her friends about an obvious basket case who'd just latched onto her; I wanted to warn her that it wasn't anything to laugh about and her life was about to get seriously screwed up, but I figured it'd be cruel to tell her that when I didn't know how she could escape.

****. Can't find prescription. Might be at home. Seeing psychiatrist on Thursday anyway, so it doesn't matter. Of course, nothing matters, because life is meaningless and we're all going to die. Haha. I didn't mean that part. Just playing a role. (Seriously, I didn't mean any of that nihilistic crap. It's just fun to act that way because, as Elok said earlier, there's pretty much nothing better than beating myself up when I'm depressed. So I'm just making fun of my own depression. It's hilarious. Seriously.)

                          Apologies.

Suffice it to say, you shouldn't take me seriously regardless.

But what's wrong with running over people in GTA4? It's quite cathartic.

With regards to a good time to start dating... life is never perfect. If he's standing on a ledge, well then yes... perhaps he should seek a more intensive style of treatment before female companionship. It just sounds like he's upset because his relationship ended. There's nothing wrong with finding comfort (physical or otherwise) in the arms of another.

It's helpful to come on forums and express yourself in whatever way feels right.

Heh. I never really solved the problem. Awhile back she got engaged to some hippie who shares her stupid new beliefs about how chemicals are bad and the government is evil and we all have to work together and bla bla bla. This pissed me off enough that I decided it was best to just stop talking to her completely, except once where I had to correct some idiotic meme she posted about Einstein. Now she's leaving Facebook altogether to protest their privacy policy or somesuch, which means it will be even easier for me to ignore her. But apparently she's happy now, so good for her.
