Yeah the way chicago has been carved up is a travesty of machine politics. No one denies this. Roll it back.

I think if you look at many large metro areas you'll find the core to be dem and the collar areas repug. It follows the mean income. It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

I know them all too well.
My family also knows Rahm Emmanuel's family. His father was my first pediatrician. I'm oddly connected to both parties.
For a brief stint, I did work for the guy who is now my congressional representative. When I saw how campaigns worked from the inside, I got very disgusted. I managed a team of people whose job it was to cold call random people for support. We had pages and pages of personal information... voting records... info on the households. It was pretty scary. It paid well, but I fell scummy at the end of the day. So I quit.
Both parties function the same in that respect. It's horrible. To us, it is the BEAST.

Chicago is mostly just a battle between local area factions. It's solid Democrat, obviously. The Republicans are basically a separate faction. In any large group of people, at least 10-15% will be seriously mentally ill. As long as this remains true, Republicans will always have some support, even in Democratic regional strongholds. There's always going to be racists and oldman cranky pants who want kids off their lawn... who are under the "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" delusion that everything they accomplished in life is solely because of their own hard work. Selfishness and greed are part of the human condition. It's the basis for American conservatism. The GOP may die. But those types of people will just find another political group to be a part of.To us, it is the BEAST.

Or maybe the republicans severely misunderstood how they and many of their candidates are perceived by the majority of Americans.“As a lifelong member of the Columbia Business School community, I adhere to the principles of truth, integrity, and respect. I will not lie, cheat, steal, or tolerate those who do.”
"Capitalism ho!"

Or maybe it's because I had a job that summer and all the Democrat kids were unemployed volunteers with loads of spare time

Don't worry. You'll get a chance to campaign for Hillary in 2016."I have never killed a man, but I have read many obituaries with great pleasure." - Clarence Darrow
"I didn't attend the funeral, but I sent a nice letter saying I approved of it." - Mark Twain
