Sorry, but I find 5 Guys fries terrible. They are simply soggy. Oerdin's picture is a perfect example of nearly every fry they serve. All those grease spots on the bag are formed solely from the fries after a few seconds. If you like them, good for you. Me, I prefer my fries to be distinguishable from noodles.

The 5 Guys burger isn't bad. However, I often feel that I need to buy the double, which it looks like Oerdin ordered, to get any flavor out of them.

The conversation I get whenever 5 Guys comes up is always the same. People like it, but always name some place better: In-N-Out, ShakeShack, or some local burger joint.

On price alone In-N-Out is a winner in any conversation.

What other burger joints would you class in the same catergory as Carl's Jr/Hardee's? I'm really drawing a blank as either some places are similar on offerings but vary on price, or are similar on price but have much simpler offerings.

A double-double (double meat, double cheese) still just $2.35 which is great given that everything was made fresh that morning, was never frozen, and is made to order. It's pretty much the gold standard in fast food even if there are bigger, fancier burgers. Their shakes, made to order with real ice cream, are also something special and a real bargain.

I tried a rice burger when I was in Taiwan. Japanese style with a pressed rice bun. Actually quite tasty. These are actual pictures of my meal.

Ugh, I never cared for the limp beef that is so common in Asia. But that doesn't look too bad. Fries look good. Nice long, stiff Asian fries.

I was like sliced roast beef is here but a little more chewy, had a nice sauce on it though. I'll definitely find that place again when I have to return.
