We were not talking about "a better life for everyone". This discussion is about economic cycles, and only that.

The discussion is about a country that needs its National Assembly to pass a law to keep toilet paper on the shelves.

Furthermore, inflation is not simply an increase in the supply of money within an economy; it is the increase in that portion (if any) not backed by a commensurate increase in specie:

So because the 16th century Spanish had plenty of gold and silver, they never experienced inflation?

Um, gold and silver were the money supply.

Then you're talking about the wrong thing.

Eliminating cycles simply to say you've done it is a misguided proposal.

The question is why do you want to eliminate cycles. I'd say you don't, because they are a product of an economic system that works better for more people than any other system has done or is likely to this side of replicators. What needs doing is softening the impacts on people.

A better life for the most people possible is the entire point.

Let's eliminate cycles by staying at or below the bottom of the cycle 100% of the time!

And by "economic cycles" you seem to only mean cyclical unemployment because planned economies will have plenty of the cycles that Sir Og described.

You think that is a persuasive argument?

Yes, private for-profit companies would routinely hire employees, rent buildings and use valuable shelf-space to stock toilet-paper nobody could buy. Because putting unsellable stuff on shelves is how companies make money.
