Everyone talking about "corporations are people" as if that meant they are literally a person is a ****ing idiot. Corporations are people means "corporations are groups of people", nothing more*, you goddamn mouth-breathing retards. PS MrFun, how did you even learn to read or tie your shoes?

*except for the case of "you can sue a corporation in court"

Also, for everyone who thinks that corporations undermine the criminal justice system, why don't you go ask the kind folks who used to work at Enron how they are enjoying all that prison?
If there is no sound in space, how come you can hear the lasers?

I guess you don't remember what Mitt Romney said about corporations.

And wasn't the new law allowing corporations to make unlimited campaign contributions based on the argument that corporations are people and so should be able to contribute to campaigns the same way individuals do?

You're the one who doesn't understand it, dumbass. He was saying that they consist of people.

Maybe you should consider the context?
            1. Romney was speaking to a group of people and started listing ways the US could support its welfare state. He starts by mentioning that "raising taxes on people" is one possibility
            2. A member of the crowd shouted out something about taxing corporations instead
            3. Romney says "corporations are people, my friend" and when the crowd objects he clarifies by saying "everything corporations earn goes to people".
I'll include a video because I'm not sure if you're functionally literate:

As a matter of fact, taxing corporations really is a tax on the corporation's shareholders. A funny soundbite for Colbert to take out of context and joke about but it doesn't seriously mean that Romney thought that a corporation is an actual person.

MrFun, the problem is that the argument "Corporations as entities have (mostly) the same rights-as-entities as people do vis-a-vis the Constitution, because corporations are vehicles for personal expression/etc." is not identical to "Corporations are people", and thus you have the right-wingers here correctly objecting. You actually can largely make the same argument you are currently making if you want to, but it doesn't have the 'sound byte' that "Corporations are people" does.

To be fair, the US has a proud tradition of taking statements out of context from presidential candidates.

I'm curious, when a bank forecloses on a house it doesn't own, why do we not see the bank officers being charged with breaking and entering, trespassing, theft and fraud?

edit: Of course MrFun's reply only makes sense if he knows reg's replying to him, which means he already clicked "view post" and isn't really making use of the ignore feature.
