Only Republicans own businesses. You constantly amaze me.

You're kinda slow, aren't you? I was not talking about Republicans being the only ones who own businesses. How you got that, from reading my post, is beyond me.

Republican politicians though, are often the ones who have argued that "corporations are people too." And so following that "logic," one would think that if we apply this, then it should follow that like all other people, corporations should be equally subjected to criminal charges as anyone else.

I'm not nearly as slow as you keep repeating. At least you've backed off Republicans to often Republicans. That's more than I would ever have expected, and yet shows the scope of your raving.

Who the hell thinks corporations are people? It's like you dumbed down the concept of corporate personhood to the point of mental retardation.

They could take the private prison and put it in federal "pound me in the ass" prison. That would show them!

Wow, and there was me thinking the corrupt lobbying system in the US would have proved private prisons bad enough. I guess just bribing politicians wasn't enough of an instant moneymaker.

Corporations are rational actors. More so than most people.

A human rational actor will not do some activities because the punishment is too high if caught.

A corporate rational actor only has a fine, which it can petition or use other means to decrease. It has very little punishment when caught.

The problems should be obvious and are a key part of the current problems in capitalism. In capitalist terms this is a problem of externalities. This has been made worse by giving corporations free reign to influence politics which are the normal method of correcting for externalities.

Corporations absolutely can be indicted criminally. Not only can their officers be jailed, but jailing is not the only potential result of a criminal indictment; they can also do things like revoke the corporate charter (which is, I guess, the death penalty equivalent?). See http://www.lorandoslaw.com/FAQ/Corpo...iability.shtml for example.

Yes, they're people, as in they're made up of people. That's what is meant when that's said.
