QFT. Saying "krokodil is safe without the impurities" is like saying "communism is good when you avoid the whole dictatorship thing". Russia

Do you even understand what cronyism is? It's a result of government interference in the economy. Not capitalism.

You have it backwards. The result of cronyism is (or at least can be) government interference in the economy.

HC, I'd suggest getting a dictionary.

there is a good book for someone on armies fighting on drugs, I saw the allied forces handing sedatives and anti-depressants out like candy in the ME, it was even called a "management tool"
Any views I may express here are personal and certainly do not in any way reflect the views of my employer. Tis the rising of the moon..

Look, I just don't anymore, okay?

In the US military people submit to frequent "random" urinalysis, generally after block leave and liberty. It is, to my knowledge, pretty difficult to get away with using illegal drugs in the US military these days.

Abuse of prescription medication on the other hand...well, if you have a valid prescription then what can they do to you? There's a saying about military doctors...what do you call a man who graduated in the bottom 5% of his med school class? Captain.

Cronyism merely referred to favoritism to ling-standing friends. It need not involve government interference in the economy. An example I know of personally: We had a nurse who's ex-husband was abusive. She divorced him and obtained sole custody of their child. One day he and some of his friends grabbed the baby and fled across the county line. In the other county her ex's father was a hunting buddy of the county judge. Needless to say the previous custody judgement was reversed. That's cronyism.

If the county manager gave the job of building the new court house to a friend without going through a fair bidding process, that would be cronyism. If the sheriff hired his old high school buddy as deputy despite a lack of qualifications that too would be cronyism. Cronyism could also conceivably not involve government at all. If a group of businessmen entrenched in a community conspired to exclude new comers from establishing businesses in the community or to set prices of commodities in the community, that would be cronyism.

Sounds more like kidnapping and/or custodial interference.

It is all three, actually. Just because one specific concept applies doesn't mean others automatically do not.
You just wasted six ... no, seven ... seconds of your life reading this sentence.

Oh that's just the shortened version of the story. When the baby was taken the mother and her new BF followed her ex back to his home. They confronted him and he pulled a gun and held them for the police. The police arrived, heard the story and arrested her, letting her go a few days later.
