    Yeah, every time they say
in a show of solidarity with federal workers smarting from government-wide spending cuts.
I start laughing for just that reason Kid.
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

Would have been a nice jesture if he had done it without publicity. As is, nothing more than PR.

Maybe he should get down to work and come up with some real fiscal solutions.

If it's a jesture it's PR. Federal employees are overpaid anyway.

I am also willing to give 5% of Obama's (and all federal elected officials') salary back to the Treasury. I'd go as high as 50% in a heartbeat.

I'm sure this is going to make all the furloughed workers feel better about trying to make ends meet.

Republicans don't want him to come up with real fiscal solutions.

Well then, no problem since obviously democrats are unwilling to discuss any as well. See Congress can work together and with the administration.

Republicans made it their number one priority in 2008 when Obama was elected to ensure he would be a one-term president. Their number one priority was not do anything about our economy or government spending. Remember when one of the Republican leaders in Congress actually SAID that?

Now, after Obama won reelection, the Republicans seem to have made it their number one priority to block economic recovery proposals or government budget proposals so that Democrats in Congress who are up for 2014 elections have a reduced chance in winning.

                    No

Stupid tax and spend philosophy is not a "proposal" for economic recovery. Obama's "my way or the highway" philosophy doesn't play well. So what?

When he wants to negotiate and realize that a combination of democrat and republican proposals will move the nation forward, then we might see progress. Same goes for Republicans, but I do remember them almost begging for realistic proposals from the White House upon which they could begin negotiations.

Unlike you, I do not blindly support one side or the other. Both sides are working hard to maintain entrenched positions. My opinion is that the White House needs to lead. It is also my opinion that Obama has no desire to really lead here as long as people like you are willing to blame everything on Republicans.

When consumers spend less during recessions, increased government spending can help alleviate the situation. Taxes generate revenue which help pay down that awful debt you seem to hate so much.

Why don't you stop repeating bumper sticker slogans and use your ****ing brain?

And all things being equal, a figure like $1 billion is more useful to the economy when 100,000 people are using it to purchase goods and services rather than it sitting in some rich guy's bank account in the Caymans.

You mean, "Tax increases for the wealthy along with reasonable/sane budget cuts," that some Democrats have been proposing or arguing for.
