Because there are these things called cars that let you drive from one state to the next. For instance, Chicago gun laws are largely ineffective because Indiana will sell you anything.

Even enforcing existing laws or implementing basic fixes that would allow us to have our guns and eat them too are impossible because the NRA opposes even basic policies like background checks and funding the federal agencies tasked with enforcing existing laws.

It's actually quite hilarious. I suspect there are going to be more far reaching gun laws passed in the future simply because the NRA is ****-blocking everything that makes sense.

If somebody is going to drive without a license they are going to do it. Happens all the time. If someone wants a gun to commit a crime, they will usually illegally obtain it anyway if they have a record.

Driver's licenses are for responsible people. Gun back ground checks are for responsible people. People contemplating mass murder probably aren't going to go to get a background check...only a gun.

There are thousands of unlicensed drivers on the road this very minute. There are millions of unlicensed guns floating around this very minute. Background checks won't stop illegal gun ownership or crime. They will add a level of inconvienience to law abiding gun owners.
