Speaking of weeds... that's a lot of exposed dirt. Is one of you a gardener? Someone's going to be spending a lot of time to keep up the appearance of your yard.

BTW I have paving stones in my patio too but I'm always spraying round up to kill the weeds which pop up between the paving stones then hand pulling the dead weeds out. Is there some trick the pavers use to stop this or is it, as I suspect, just the required maintenance? I have sand between the paving stones and it looks like you do too."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

The rest has a large amount of mulch on top, which will help.
And none of us were gardeners until now because we've not had a yard until now. We're both interested in giving it a go.
If that fails, that's what my retired parents are for."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

He's out of town on business right now, and I know better than to post pics of SO's on this site."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

We've been together 10 years (as of last Friday). I think he's out by now."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

Just south of $40K.
It also includes stuff not very obvious from the pictures - 6 zone irrigation system (with rain sensor), uplighting (tree) and downlighting (path), and downspout modification (water drains all the way to the property line through and underground tube rather than on the paving stones). The materials alone are really pricey (like the rundlestone at the side of the house).
I got six quotes for the design, all of the others were in the $50-60K range. This guy is doing it much cheaper than the others as he wants to use it to get more business in the neighbourhood (vast majority of people have no landscaping). I agreed to let him keep his sign out front & out back for one year for the $15K discount. I've also gone around to yards each of them did, this guy is the highest quality. He takes a lot of pride in his work and doesn't cut corners, and it showed on the yards he did. Little things like the fencing - other guys had large gaps near the fencepost where a whole board wouldn't fit. This contractor cuts a narrow board to put in there so the spacing is always even."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

Originally posted by Dinner View PostAhh, ok, I have no geotextile fabric underneath as I did it myself using one of the Home Depot's how to guides. I had been thinking about just pouring a concrete patio to get out of the weeding but maybe redoing it correctly with geotextile is a better option. I kind of don't like the paving stones I picked out in 2004 any way so maybe it is time to redo it.
Regular sand is awful for weeds also."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

It was regular sand which I bought from Home Depot.
It needs to be redone and probably by someone who has experience rather than a DIY job.Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.
