Is the Empty Quarter really THAT obscure? It's like you've never looked at a map of Saudi Arabia.

I have a lot of things to look at that are more interesting than Saudi Arabia. Lack of interest in some particular region's geography is not lack of intelligence, as molly desperately wishes were the case.

I think Molly just has a fascination for eccentric/obscure things ... which explains why he's here on Poly as well.

The only thing you really accomplish when you complain about Molly's posts is that you brag about not knowing or caring about things. Except that attempting the internet equivalent of shoving someone into a locker and/or giving them a swirlie or some other stereotypical way of bullying nerds in high school that may not even exist in the real world isn't particularly effective on a strategy gaming website.

I'm far more amused than annoyed, really. I'd never comment on it if his obscure knowledge were either interesting or relevant to any of the discussions he participates in.

It's also ridiculously easy to yank his chain. Simply idly noting his quirks will send him on a multi-post rant on your mental deficiencies. He's quite insecure.

Why are you focused on the Empty Quarter? Taklamakan is what I kept harping on (I said it 3 times). I simply said the Empty Quarter (one time!) as well because it's obscure enough but Taklamakan is what took the cake.

And yes, it is obscure. I never heard of it and assumed it was some desert in Australia. It's on EU3 as Rub al-Khali and that's what the desert is primarily known as.

Can someone answer my question about how difficult it would be for an animal or human to willfully drown oneself by suicide?

What do you mean by willfully? If you just mean putting yourself in a position where eventually you will drown, it's probably not very hard, especially if you don't know how to swim very well.

If you mean stopping yourself from trying to float/swim/breathe until the very end, it would be very difficult. Not as difficult as trying to asphyxiate yourself by just not breathing (since you'd have to control your breathing even after passing out, whereas passed out in the water you have a good chance of drowning), but still pretty hard.

That would be diffcult, that's why you swim far out to sea or jump off a bay bridge in the first place.

You could also try skating on thin ice.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.
