If that's from previous behaviours he exhibited, then the problem isn't the mental health system per se, it's that there is no trust in the system so families won't interact with it. If people won't report the dangerous behaviours then there is a huge cultural problem that needs to be overcome. And becoming the more restrictive the society becomes on managing those behaviours will only decrease the likelihood of family members from assisting society in policing those dangerous individuals.

She started her political career being the Mayor of SF, which has severely influenced her stance on gun politics. After all, SF is the same city that voted by popular initiative to ban firearms from city limits.

It's not like the California Republican Party tries real hard to win statewide elections here. I mean, Meg Whitman and Carly Fiorina? WTF is that? And they're the top tier of candidates that the Republican party scrapes up here.

Yeah, and a lot of firearm owners have just written off the entire state. Throwing 1/10th of the population to the wolves isn't a good way to seek sane gun policy at the national level.

-Moving from a 2-characteristic test to a 1-characteristic test

-Eliminating the easy-to-remove bayonet mounts and flash suppressors from the characteristics test

-Banning firearms with “thumbhole stocks” and “bullet buttons” to address attempts to “work around” prior bans

And

Requires that grandfathered weapons be registered under the National Firearms Act, to include:

-Background check of owner and any transferee;

-Type and serial number of the firearm;

-Positive identification, including photograph and fingerprint;

-Certification from local law enforcement of identity and that possession would not violate State or local law; and

-Dedicated funding for ATF to implement registration

The repubs are going to continue to do well in bi year elections simply because they gerrymandered house districts at the state level to hell and back.

Watch as they bring it to the floor in its current state and proclaim "Welp, we tried."

She's aiming high in order in the hope that she'll hit anywhere. There's just no percentage for the Republicans to vote for gun control. It is literally the biggest wedge issue out there, with the added benefit that gun owners are way more likely to vote on it than non-gun owners.
