However, I was also referring to the fact that you can construct most of the AR-15 from hard plastic, including a stripped lower receiver. In fact the lower parts & trigger group, the barrel, the upper receiver, and a small number of other components need to be steel or aluminum but the rest can pretty much just be made of hard plastic. There are (very expensive) 3d printers designed for rapid prototyping which I believe can create plastic components of suitable durability. ABS, the material used in most 3d printers, is of course not sufficiently strong.

Yeah, it's mostly just the same gun nuts running out to buy their 15th or 16th gun instead of new people who have never owned a gun before. It's mostly just irrational behavior by irrational people but the NRA and the gun manufacturers who control the NRA have been trying to whip the gun nuts into a buying frenzy for years now.Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.

By "gun ownership has increased" I mean that more distinct individuals as a proportion of the population possess firearms now as opposed to ten years ago.
The awesome thing about Oerdin's posts is that you don't have to actually read them; they're just guaranteed to be wrong. Well that's one awesome part. The other awesome part is that literally everything has something to do with right wing crazies of some kind in his mind. Like, they are responsible for everything. It's as if Oerdin never stops thinking about politics, and his partisanship dominates every single issue that crosses his mind.

Yes it's from Gallup. No, you shouldn't discount the entire set of polls for the oldest and most respected polling group in the entire country because in one election cycle the likely voter model was wrong. Especially polls on which a likely voter model is not applied. Anyway, most of the movement in gun ownership lately has been among self-identified Democrats; they are more likely to own guns than before.

The best way to stop school shootings is to ban schools and have everyone homeschooled. Second amendment will then be safe, and parents can ensure the benefits of guns are properly taught to their kids. One day Canada will rule the world, and then we'll all be sorry.

Is that the same 78% who couldn't find Europe on a map? Given that half your countrymen seem to be unable to decide recently whether to suicide your economy, secede or just shoot the other half, I wouldn't be quite so cocky about your declining empire.John Brown did nothing wrong.

Yay union officers Col. William C. Church and Gen. George Wingate.(BTW this includes support for militant black activists in the 60's who were well known leftists and communists.)
2)I am confused as to why the racial makeup of gun owneship has anything to do with the issue. You indicate that whitey would not support gun control if more blacks had guns. The fear of someone else possssessing a gun only applies if there is reason to think that a conflict with that armed person may happen. Why would anyone worry about such a conlict with peaceful citizens? The vast, vast, vast majority of gun owning citizenry recognize the responsibility of gun ownership and do not intend to use their weapons except for defense. If black citizenry own defensive weaponary how does that in anyway mean anything to an average gun owner? Or is this an implicit admission of your own prejudices that you automatically assume a) blacks are intending their weapons for offensive acions or b) have prejudices against white gun owners believing them intending to pre-remptively attack blacks (only to face an armed response).
Well said

Do you need a licence to buy ammo? I was being told by a guy from CT that ammo was the Christmas present of choice for his wife's family in Georgia. "Too soon for Connecticut?" they asked as they saw his face....One day Canada will rule the world, and then we'll all be sorry.
