In Kansas City they have approved a two mile, $100 Million streetcar from the City Market to Union Station, based on a specially taxed district the streetcar will run through. On the votes 600 people.

No, that's not the margin. That's the total number of people who voted.

You'd have to live here, or read a lot, to understand the true hilarity of the situation.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

I get you and reg and some of the other, er, um... fine posters easily confused. It was reg's whining about infrastructure in general. You whine about other stuff in other threads.

Someone piss in your cornflakes this morning?

I'm with Imran in thinking that extending mass transit to locations where lots of people go is a good idea provided it can be done in a cost effective manner. To get people to ride mass transit it needs to go where people want to go and do it both quickly and cheaply. It would also be nice if it is both safe and clean.

I'm against tax credits, yes, and tax incentives, yes. I am not against education, highway infrastructure, or FEMA.

The example of waste I had given above was the fact that I have been issued about $1000 worth of gear by the U.S. Army even though I have no commitment to actually serve.

It was a typo because you were posting crap in the other thread, and both threads wandered off-topic. Get over yourself, sugarcakes. However, it worked very effectively as a troll as it got you wound up and responding. And you're still here.

I wasn't making an argument against infrastructure spending per se so much as I was railing against the view expressed by some in this thread that such spending is good in and of itself regardless of what it is.

Re DoD waste: I like this example: $100,000 on a workshop on interstellar travel including a lecture entitled Did Jesus die for Klingons, too?
