Now we can go full circle by combining rust belt decay in Detroit with criticism of Leftism!

If there is no sound in space, how come you can hear the lasers?

You're an idiot if you think Detroits decline has anything to do with "liberalism". It was a one horse town which got killed by free trade due to a ridged executive and working class. Period.

Laugh all you want but their problem was the same as the British auto industry's in the 1970's. Ridged management, ridged working class, both of which were set in their ways, were unimaginative, unresponsive to changing market conditions, and Detroit really was a one horse town so when that horse went lame they were stuck with nothing but memories.

Their inability to reinvent themselves was identical to the rest of the rust belt including the bright red parts of the rust belt.

The problem was and continues to be unions. It's really that simple.

They seem about ready to kill the Twinkie as well.

Bankrupt Twinkies maker Hostess Brands Inc. has some hard choices to make after spending the weekend dealing with worker strikes.

You are completely ignoring the problems of crappy management which is a huge amount of what sort of products a company produces. I can't say I'm surprised you're so obtuse though.

                    • Guys, I specifically stated "****tiest MINOR Rust Belt city." Detroit is too big.

Remember, we're comparing to Troy, Schenectady, Rochester and the like. Flint and Gary are both excellent candidates.
In my area, we've got Joliet and Rockford. Toledo was impressively depressing my last time through. And though I haven't been there, I hear Youngstown is pretty special as well.

Gee, you mean a right wing donor is found to be completely full of **** yet again? Who would have thought?!

                        • Have you ever considered that maybe there might not be political motivations to trying to keep your business afloat? Surely you aren't denying that under the new law Papa John's is required to pay for expensive medical insurance for full time employees.

If you paid any attention at all you'd know CNN proved that claim to be full of ****. The true cost is much, much less than $0.10 per pizza and probably more in the $0.02 to $0.03 range.

$0.03 = exactly **** all compared to the social good of not just letting people die due to not having health insurance.
