If not, shame on you all for not doing your civic duty and attacking the people who didn't vote in states that didn't matter

See, I think that there are a growing number of theoretically Republicans who DO NOT HATE SCIENCE and therefore don't always vote for the Republican candidate. Which is, probably, the author's point...

      • I hope you're not associating religion with hating science.

Not at all. If you believe in God, but have reconciled the scientific evidence of evolution with your belief in God, and thus accept evolution, I cannot say that you hate science just because you're religious.
A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.

          • You could make an argument for believing in a designer within the bounds of science (though personally I think its pretty damn tenuous) but as soon as you get into any kind of biblical literalism then you're tossing science over a cliff.

Certainly not. But if you argue against science because it contradicts your religious beliefs (evolution, for example) then you're anti-science. Plenty of room for being religious while accepting science.

In any event, the Republican party is anti-science in ways not related to religion (well, not directly, anyway). Certainly some of those have religious backgrounds - stem cell research, IE - but it's not even entirely that. I think it's simply that the party sees 'scientists' as generically liberal; and much of the party is from the rural midwest and south, where there is a pretty substantial anti-elitist crowd that, rightly or wrongly, associates scientists and science with elitism.

              • There's a lot of hate on science because conservatives tend to distrust anything that conflicts with their baked in worldview.

Because you keep whining about how hard your life is and how many sacrifices you've had to make to reach your station in life, when obviously you've lead an easy life and haven't really achieved much else than any normal person. (Not saying it's a bad thing to lead a normal life, but it is rather stupid to put on airs and look down on people when you're average at best.)

I'm sorry, what do you work as right now?
I have a business which pay the bills. Sometimes a second, third, and fourth, but they are seasonal and not for profit.

                  Skills you possess? Talents? Capabilities?

Can we pretend I engaged in a long winded rant in defence of compulsory voting and leave it at that? You're history's greatest monster, etc.
"You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours."--General Sir Charles James Napier

                          • Religion determines politics for Asian Americans
In short, it’s religion. Barry Kosmin has documented that between 1990 and 2010 Asian Americans have become far less Christian, on average. Meanwhile, the Republican party has become far more Christian in terms of its identity. Do you really require more than two sentences to infer from this what the outcome will be in terms of how Asian Americans will vote?
