He ain't very "tea party" esque. Also his social policies tend to be... very left of the Southern base. Northeastern Republicans are a different breed.

I dunno. He appears at least to be making efforts to bring NJ's budget into line through cuts and tax reform. If you meant his social views, that to my knowledge has never been a large issue of the Tea Party itself.

Why is anyone surprised that Christie wouldn't be thankful or honest in his thanking Obama? It's always the GOP thats been the bipartisan ones willing to step across the aisle to get things done.

Hmm, all of that does indeed make Christie look like a centrist. Now I'm confused is he really a centrist or just an opportunist? I do know he'd been babbling nonsense about the President prior to Sandy ("He's so incompetent he can't even find the light switch with both hands!") but I hope he was reluctantly reading from the party's prepared script on those things instead of coming up with that nonsense on his own.
