so you don't believe in democracy?Originally posted by regexcellent View PostI agree with him on that. I know you agree with him on that. You're a horribly evil person who wants to oppress hundreds of millions of people rather than allow them a vote as to who will represent them in their democratically elected governments.Originally posted by regexcellent View PostI agree with him on that.

I'll also add that you're horribly stupid as the path you've chosen is one that can only lead to the end you fear. You're creating your own demons to fight by demonizing all the good people in between you and the extreme you want to push them towards.

No. Communists are horribly evil who want to oppress hundreds of millions of people whether they realize it or not. Better to have a conservative dictatorship than a leftist one.Originally posted by Aeson View PostI know you agree with him on that. not much, all utopias end as distopias, it's a continuum, see Jim Jones, he wasn't better than Pol PotOriginally posted by Aeson View PostSo you're saying there's no difference between a hippy commune in Oregon (or even more moderate ... a traditional family unit) and Pol Pot?Any views I may express here are personal and certainly do not in any way reflect the views of my employer. Tis the rising of the moon..
Look, I just don't anymore, okay?

HA! the religious right most certainly is and they have repeatedly said so in plain simple English. It just so happens that the religious right also completely controls one of the two major political parties in the US. We're talking completely dominates it to the point of there being absolutely no distinction between the two groups in a practical sense.Originally posted by regexcellent View PostI'm afraid you're mistaken. Egypt is at 71%, Iran at 77%, Libya 89% ... so I'm glad you can support democratic movements in those regions as they are surely going to be conservative and with >50% literacyOriginally posted by Hauldren Collider View PostPlaces with less than fifty percent literacy often can't, no.

78% of the Tunisian population (essentially the entire adult population) is literate. Your premise seems faulty.Originally posted by Hauldren Collider View PostPlaces with less than fifty percent literacy often can't, no.

You're ignoring that the vast majority of hippy communes do not end up that way. You also seem to be implying that your family life is along the lines of the Khmer Rouge.Originally posted by Alexander's Horse View Postnot much, all utopias end as distopias, it's a continuum, see Jim Jones, he wasn't better than Pol Pot
