  • I strongly object to the fact that the rocket AOE stencil is CLEARLY spherical but the actual AOE is only a circle.

    • I just got a Canadian soldier so I named him James Howlett.

I thought rockets could damage flying units in the sphere.

          • Perhaps - I haven't tested that. All I know for sure is that they DON'T work through floors or ceilings, which is BS.

            • Assuming I ever get more than a few minutes into the game (kept crashing on my old video card, which I think was an overly factory overclocked card and thus overheated instantly, so I got a cheap newer one that is much less power-hungry and hot) I am doing classic/ironman; that way when I totally lose I will not be tempted to fix things and just start over

                • On Classic?

I'm pretty sure winning on classic is basically impossible. 0.3% of Steam users have done it.

                  • I've been playing missions on classic and actually...no, it's not that hard. This game is only hard if you're on ironman or on impossible.

                    • Yes, it's extremely difficult. I play ironman but unless you're an obsessive reload spammer with no integrity I don't think it makes a huge difference.

                      • I save every 5 turns or so and reload when something terrible happens, like a character dies. Although that hasn't really happened much. Usually it happens when I do something really stupid, and even then, I can generally fix it with smoke grenades or the +40 defense psionic power, or a combination of the two, which makes it impossible for the enemy to hit anything.

                        • Ive restarted half a dozen times on ironman classic, as Im getting a feel for the tactics and systems of this game.

I can understand the desire to save and reload - that way you can experience the natural story arc, plot pacing and research development.

However, for me, saving and reloading misses the point of the game. I need to live or die by the consequences of my actions

                          • Did you start over a new game, reg? If not, then I'd highly recommend being quiet until you do. You can't really judge a difficulty level unless you've been on the same level the whole game.

Just lost my first classic game, basically (down to 1 soldier and no money left). Pretty tough. Haven't really worked out how to keep people safe yet, I don't think; most of my dead come from people who seem to be in cover but have probably advanced a bit too close. Need to take things slower...

Bugging out increases panic far too high.
I just failed a terror mission with a ****load of Chryssalids and my second Cyberdisc. **** me. I was so busy trying to hold off the wave of Chryssalids and Zombies that the Cyberdisc cut me to pieces.

Kuci was right about the rocket splash damage not affecting enemy units in the air, by the way. I totally thought I was going to turn the tide with a rocket shot underneath the Cyberdisc and next to a Chryssalid and zombie, but the air units were completely unaffected.

                              • Seems that on terror missions you need to chuck caution out the window and go for the quick advance. Otherwise the maps full of zombies and you're roundly ****ed.
