Those type of Protestants completely misread things however. We may be saved by grace and not our works, but after we accept the love of God, we are supposed to work for His purposes. Those good words are to honor God and help bring His vision to Earth, not to 'earn' salvation - but to act as if good works are wrong is just being silly (and I'd counsel them to read their James).
This.
It is central to our creed. There is no getting around it.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.
As an atheist such a sticker wouldn't bother me in the least.
Does it bother religious people more?
Probably. For me the coexist bumpersticker (with the letters made out of religeous symbols) rubs me the wrong way. I'm not really bothered by atheist bumperstickers.

The key is to avoid being confused, not to avoid feeling confused.
The two are the same thing, but I'm not talking about avoiding anything. I'm talking about seeking the truth and making a decision. Then living with it.

No, they're not. You can avoid feeling confused by ignoring the feeling. You can avoid being confused by learning.
This is a silly issue, but if I avoid my feelings isn't that the same as not being willing to learn. In both ways you are really choosing bliss by ignorance.

I have to say that in 40 years of not being a christian I never really learned not to be one since I am one now. But honestly, I've given up on trying to learn that. Thanks though for the help.

Some people say that when you predict the way someone of a certain group will act that you are a bigot.
Some people who are far more intelligent say that when you predict the way someone of a certain group will act that you are being rational.
loin: Hey, look at that fireman, I bet he's here to put out the fire at that burning building. Y'know, just like every other fireman I've seen who was in close proximity to a burning building.
Kidicious: You are a bigot!
loin: You have a fundamental misunderstanding of most of the English language.
Kidicious: It used to make me angry to think of how abysmally stupid I am, but then I took a leap of faith that I'm not one of the stupidest people alive, and since then I've been much more confident in my horrible decisions.

“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
- John 13:34-35 (NRSV)
Countdown to Kidicious angrily posting "you liar, I never said that Bryllygs also understand that firemen put out fires!!!" Oh wait, that's just my bigotry rearing its ugly head again, never mind that Kid has made dozens of posts that demonstrate an utter incomprehension of the word "liar"
