That is the life on the court, you either ride it out until the end or... well... quit... and in this case be pretty lucky as it is "only" about your career and not about jail time or worse.

There is a ton of "evidence", bribery and all sorts of stuff involved which he could have challenged in the proper trial, but no... errr... exhaused the dude is.

To make an analogy to criminal justice, even if you are innocent, a lot of the time your attorney will recommend you cut a deal and plead guilty.

Lance Armstrong is probably the single most tested athlete in history because the French can't stand the thought of an American winning their tournament.

In order for you not to lose and get a lot more serious sentence, especially if the evidence is not in your favour. In this particular case he is getting the most serious sentence he can get, and not even fighting the last round, let alone appealing.

Not that I care that much as there should be no winner for those years, Ulrich was also doping, just less effectively and it is a fairly safe bet that there is no success in cycling without some sort of extra stimulation these days, but to pretend Lance did not "cheat" is silly.

I wonder if Greg LeMond gets a pass in the French press because his name looks french?

If he does not, I am sure that Statue of Liberty does.

nothing in the OP says how he cheated, so he must be innocent

I don't care. I also don't care if Kobe, Michael, or Tiger cheats on his wife or whatever.

Can't believe I'm on the side of the nutjobs on this issue. I need to reevaluate things...

If Armstrong cheated, the thing that always gets me is how audacious and brazen it was, with several people involved for a start and the whole world watching

He rode the whole race, how is that cheating?

Soon, we will consider taking a multi-vitamin "doping". I say let them take all the performance enhancers they want!

the other question is who else was cheating in the race, a lot of his main rivals that he beat have since been caught

Was he holding out on them, and keeping "the good stuff" only for himself? Where was this testimony from the dopers back when it was happening?

They have proof, they should show it! Instead, they try to bleed his finances dry in court case after court case, and ruin all the good he has done.
First, co-accused testify against one another all the time. If you think this is unfair you could streamline you judicial system overnight.

Secondly, you act as if a positive test is the only legitimate evidence.

Wrong on both counts my friend.
