Okay while everyone's making stupid jokes I still have not followed up with her after she told me about how her work schedule is. She's back this weekend but leaves on Monday for Canada and won't be back til Sept. 4th.

Any thoughts on the whole "I find our difference *so* intriguing" thing? Is that a recipe for disaster?

Not really. My wife and I are complete opposites, politically--I'm moderate, she's...really immoderate. Whereas my parents (married about 30 years) are opposites in terms of religion and personality. The fact that she actually wants to discuss this stuff with you is odd; I scrupulously avoid discussing anything that might bring up Shelok's political ideas, because I don't much care what she thinks about the subject, nor she about my opinions. Doesn't stop her from griping about politicians if you set her off though.

Anyway, that doesn't seem like a clear danger sign to me. Overall, the scenario as you described it is cause for cautious almost-optimism. The fact that she knew you for a while and has some inkling of what you're like as a person makes this less likely to be a total wash.

She'll be back in Canada on Monday. Won't be back til Sept. 4th. The next day I could possibly see her would be that Sunday, assuming she doesn't travel somewhere else before then, and even then, like I said, I'd be tired as hell.

Anyway, work it out between the two of you. Stay in contact with her as much as possible. Even if you wind up just chatting long-distance for a while, that's not the end of the world. I chatted long-distance with my wife for a year before I even met her in person. Third anniversary's coming up in September. If she's that interested, you can work something out, even if it's just a cup of coffee while she's in town. Do the best you can. You're not going to get jack **** done if you keep leaning on us.

At least she has some experience with the real, argumentative you and not whatever mask you put on when you're trying not to scare women away.
