Haven't you called kentonio a "liberal" in the past? & isn't he suggesting go all nuclear?

You should try one - if M. Bachmann is an indicator, they are fairly hot and won't care if you're a closet case.

As for fracking, I'm aware of two Canadian cases (one in Alberta, one in New Brunswick) where people living close to fracking had their tapwater become flammable - not too safe.

Speaking of this, the former governor of Pennsylvania makes 900k lobbying for the fracking industry.

Actually, I'm all for fracking - in the US! You knobjockeys can risk ****ing up your own country working all the kinks out and when the tech is perfected, the rest of us can take advantage without all the potential downsides!

          USA potentially polluted

Oh yeah, as a bonafide card carrying liberal, this is my opinion about nuclear:

The Greens who put the brakes on nuclear in the 70s, are in a very large part responsible for the climate change issues we have 40 years later!

The dickhead Greens in Germany are about the worst going because those morons actually wield power in government - since Fukushima, the Greens in Germany have essentially closed down all of Germany's nuclear power plants - and substituted it with domestic lignite supplies...!!!

Greens the world over are basically leftie hippy morons - always have been - always will be...

Everyone who identifies as a Green should immediately be stabbed to death (shooting is more wasteful), in order to save on carbon emissions!

The truth about Germany's nuclear phase-out (By The Guardian, the world's biggest leftie/liberal paper according to dickhead ****wit rightwing c*nts!)

So between Bristol and the US, Wales has it made, eh?
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

Amen to that. It's never enough to just do reasonable **** that helps not trash the environment, the ****ers always have to prattle on about scrapping nuclear energy and returning to a world where everyone rides horses instead of cars and all that ridiculous ****. ****ing hippies.

If everybody rode horses again we really would be in deep ****.

Sorry, I'm assuming there was an insult in there but I started nodding off half way through reading it.

Two points I'd like to make in response to some errors of Mobius and kentonio, respectively.

                        1. Mobius' article, while highlighting a marginal carbon damage of the German nuclear exit, also clearly states the usefulness of solar subsidies in Germany.

                        2. There's no strong group the environmental agenda camp (be they Green, liberal, or eco-socialists) that expects society to develop backwards. The most relevant political demand among these breaks down to higher spending support for subsidizing renewable energy sources, and less support to environmentally damaing practices.

Edit: Also, the Greens don't wield political power in Germany on a federal level. The Current post-Fukushima exit move was the sole work of the conservative leadership, a classic flip-flop after brokering a shutdown delay the year before.

To be fair Germany is much better with renewables than we are.

Re the greens though, they just piss me off as being ridiculous a lot of the time in the UK. They constantly propose things like big taxes on air travel without any consideration of the negative impact on social equality of such a move. They basically feel like a one issue party, and those are usually annoying.

If its safe then it should be fine to be open and transparent about it, and have a real discussion that doesn't come down to ****ing politics.

Then again we should all just go full nuclear anyway.
