  • It's fascinating to see Asher slowly reconstruct the notion of short-run and long-run supply and demand curves. Eventually he may actually be able to do real economics!

    • You're not doing a very good job at distracting from the original issue.

I like how I patiently explain rather obvious models and then Kuci turns around and acts like he gives me a cookie, oblivious to the fact that he and his brother have spent countless posts railing against me...

You're not as smart as you think you are, Kuci. You're certainly nowhere near the level to be so smug.

Jeez, Ogie... you've fallen so hard for the "myth" that this is almost painful to read.

Well ,then you miss all the good stuff such as that the poor people gets richer when they are assraped by the rich
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

Largely due to more opportunities that haven't been fully exploited ... and a lack of jobs ... not really a good thing. For instance, there is no supermarket anywhere near here, and most people wouldn't have enough money to actually go to it and use it if there was one (which of course is why there isn't one yet). There isn't much in the way of refrigeration in most homes. So food sellers pop up just about everywhere. Many people sell door to door, or from their homes. It's very inefficient when compared to supermarkets, but necessary. So just about everyone is an entrepreneur. It's not something we should try to replicate in developed economies.

This type of decentralized and inefficient economy would still be necessary even if there were more of a safety net, at least until said safety net (or economic prosperity) was able to make the centralized supermarket and it's use viable.

In developed economies having a safety net is an important part of convincing (most) people that entrepreneurial avenues are actually viable. This safety net takes many forms, some of which you might not think of as part of a "safety net", like limited liability and bankruptcy protections.

                          • Good question. Maybe there's some government there taxing them that we aren't seeing.
