What's the shortest layover that allows you to step out of Heathrow and get back without being too rushed. The last time was a six hour layover and a few said that wasn't long enough to be worth it.It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. You'd be looking at giving yourself about an hour to get into London and an hour to get back to avoid a rush (also depends on where - Paddington is far easier to get to than the West End for example). Passport control to get out, and security to get back in, maybe up to half an hour for each. The rest depends on whether your flight is on time when it drops you at the gate, how soon before the flight you need to be back at the gate, and how much time you'd think is required to stay in town.
