  • It's a fantastic movie and you should watch it.

    • $3 to see a movie? Huh? What? Even 3 pounds is crazy cheap.

      • They're poor over there so stuff is cheaper, I guess.

        • $3.33 or £2.15 to be exact, as long as I don't mind waiting 4 days till 'Cheap Tuesdays'...

Not poor, why pay more money when you don't have to.

One of the cinemas in town does a card where you can watch as many movies as you like as often as you like and whenever you like for the equivalent of $5.82 or £3.75 a week...
Is it me, or is MOBIUS a horrible person?

            Yes poor.

Lower relative incomes. It's like why your Big Macs are cheaper than ours.

            • Well, it is true that Wales is one of the poorest parts of the UK. But that's why I like living here, because when you're on decent money - it goes a **** of a long way!

                • Wrt. killings and how effective private owned guns are, just browse FBI's site about that :

Fun stuff - approx 200 people are shot in self defence while more than 8.000 are killed by guns - typically by family.

But, but, but, according to the Kleck study, so deeply cherished by the no gun control crowd, the number of perps shot annually by DGU's (defensive gun users) is actually 1200 times that number! Where does the FBI get these numbers? The Soviet Union?

                        • I'm puzzled. Aren't automatic weapons still banned? The AR-15 is not automatic but was banned by the earlier ban. However the M1A was not banned. I'm really puzzled by what constitutes an 'assault rifle'. I thought only automatic rifles are considered assault rifles.

I see the government just made up a category of weapons. So if the rifle can accept two of a bayonet mount, folding stock, pistol grip, flash suppressor, and/or a grenade launcher, it is considered an 'assault weapon' regardless of firing mechanism or whether or not the rifle in question has any of those attachments.

Anyone well-versed in weapons can explain the basis of what seems like a strange and arbitrary distinction?

It doesn't matter much that you have to pull the trigger every time you kill a person.

So then ban all semi-automatic weapons? Only allow bolt-action rifles and single-action revolvers?

With enough training, though, it won't make a difference:
