I was not talking about that.
I was talking about support from leftist in western countries to the popular revolutions organized through twitter and facebook that happened in North Africa and the Middle East. I think most leftists in western countries supported the rebels in Lybia, and want the rebels to win in Syria.

I always opposed the American invasion of Iraq.

Still confused by why supporting the rebels is a bad thing. 'People choosing their government' > 'dictatorship', no?

i know, i'm just pointing out that the idea that people in these countries necessarily want democracy is hardly exclusive to the left. i actually think most people of all political persuasions have at least some measure of support for the rebels. the spectrum seems to run from outright support to support for getting rid of the dictator tempered with concern about the future. only a very small number actually seem to support the status quo in those countries, for example some on the jewish fringe, who zevico parrots sometimes. their reasoning being, well he might be a dictator and bloody murderer, but at least he doesn't try to interfere with us oppressing the palestinians.

There are more Jews in America than Israel. American Jews are overwhelmingly Democratic. Jews traditionally have been viewed as overwhelmingly leftist.

Are you really trying to portray the majority of Jews as right-wingers?

The Muslim Brotherhood has promised to be tolerant. We don't know that they won't.

Most jews are left wing ergo all jews are left wing?

Are you saying that all efforts to appeal to a non-majority are useless?

Who said ALL Jews are left-wing? I'm just pointing out the willful blindness of certain posters that Jews overwhelmingly tend to the left.

And efforts to appeal to a non-majority are often useless, depending on how large the majority is and the absolute population of the minority. For example, the GOP doesn't have to bother with Black votes because too many Blacks vote Democratic and the small number that don't are too small in absolute terms to be worth dedicating resources to. Jewish Democratic solidarity is less significant but their numbers are even smaller.

The GOP still bothers with both groups and tries oh so hard to appeal to Jews. But do they have much to show for it? Nope.

The GOP tries to appeal to Jews? Really? If they're elderly Jews in Florida, maybe.

                        No.
A new population study conducted by two US universities claims that more Jews still live in the United States than in Israel.

A new population study conducted by the University of Miami and University of Connecticut says more Jews still live in the United States than in Israel. “Jewish Population in the United States – 2010” estimates the total number of Jews in the U.S. at approximately 6.5 million.

However, the authors of the study, Miami U. Professor Dr. Ira M. Sheskin, director of the project, and Connectiut U.Professor Dr. Arnold Dashefsky, say they believe the figure is inaccurate, and the total is less – approximately 6.4 million.

Just before Rosh HaShanah this year, official census figures in Israel estimated the number of Israeli Jews was nearing six million, having risen to a total of 5,770,900 – an increase of nearly 67,000 from 2009.

In Argentina I saw leftists say stuff such as "this revolts in the middle east prove everybody wants more freedom and democracy, that muslims are no different from us"

Leftists just can't conceive that many people may want to live in a country that enforces islamic law and traditions in an authoritarian way. They think love for democracy is natural, universal, inherent.
                                Exactly.

Yes there are a number of ME countries where the citizens want a religious based system. This doesn't mean they want an Iranian style theocracy.

Kamal al-Halbavi, a senior member of the Muslim Brotherhood, expressed gratitude to Iranian leader Ayatollah Khamenei for his support of the revolution. Al-Halvavi said he hoped that Egypt would have a “a good government, like the Iranian government, and a good president like Mr. Ahmadinejad, who is very brave.”
