Don't be an idiot. You'll never get anywhere if you pass up opportunities because you think they are below your dignity. Obviously you also won't get anywhere if you decide that fast food is where you want to be for the rest of your life. In your race to be as contrarian as possible, you sure manage to conclude some ****ing stupid things.

Not as ****ing stupid as claiming no jobs are crap. Is MrFun actually unemployed? IIRC he has a job, but it sucks. The idea that being reluctant to take a job if you think you can do better is going to hold you back does not make a lot of sense.
I have a vacuuming job right now. Not sure how that will help me toward my career goal of community college teaching.
Anyway, I try to keep looking for something better, such as office/clerical or research work. I have no experience right now, in office work but it's something I would like to do, if I can get an opportunity.
A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.
So I'm overqualified for half the jobs and underqualified for the rest? What gives with the banking jobs? Wells Fargo gave me an interview (maybe partially because I used to work for Wachovia) but the other banks didn't interview me to be a teller. So Wells Fargo thought I was qualified to be a teller, but no other bank does. What gives?
Wells Fargo is an evil and sadistic corporation, and were probably just hiring you so they could mess with your head and fire you later on for spurious reasons.

I remember offering you $4/day for farm work... you never took me up on the offer even though you were unemployed at the time
Our Canadian federal minister in charge of creating unemployment has said every job is a good job. The employment insurance system is being changed to encourage people to take whatever is available as quickly as possible.
There's nothing wrong with the dream, my friend, the problem lies with the dreamer.
Like others here I am also having trouble finding employment. I have over twenty five years experience in customer service (mostly for manufacturing companies), but I am not getting any responses from all the resumes I send out, whether I use a standard cover letter or do research and tailor it to the company. There are a lot of companies out there that don't tell you who they are when they place the ad. About eight years ago, I had a CS job but was let go when they downsized. Then I was doing a lot of temp jobs. About three years ago, after a year of getting nothing, I decided to try sales and went to work for AFLAC. I tried that for two years but wasn't making any money. I was able to talk to the owners but could not get to the employees in most cases, even when my boss was helping out. Most people just didn't want to spend the extra money.
Obviously, sales was not for me. But now I am getting numerous calls for insurance sales because that is what my resume has as my most recent job. I have had some interviews for customer service and/or tech support (mostly for Walgreens), but I think part of the reason I cannot get those is my age (60 this October). I just interview for a job at Walgreens a couple of weeks ago, but the agency told me they would make a decision yesterday and either they did not or they have not told agency I would not be hired. I will find out Monday which it is, but after another year of not working, it is getting very frustrating. No money to take extra classes (which seems kind of silly at this point anyway) and having trouble paying bills since my wife only gets disability. Very, very frustrating.
Even though I was rejected for the same position at BNY Mellon, it opened up elsewhere and I got the notification email and a call from HR. Not understanding how they previously rejected me for the same position. Still shocked I get a call for an interview. That doesn't usually happen.
The problem is the position is in Wilmington, DE. It's about an hour and a half by train and bus each way.
I also don't have a well-fitting suit.

I don't think this job would pay me enough to be worth actually moving...
