    You're such a douche, Lori...

a strange, funny, or sad situation in which things happen in the opposite way to what you would expect
As someone not from the US, one would expect the domestic news sources to be the preferred source of news for people from that country. It is therefore ironic in a strange/funny/sad way that a native of that country would prefer to use a foreign news agency to find out about stuff in his country because, in his own words, "It is the best news site in the business"...

I suppose you could argue that in my case it is not ironic because someone like me actually expects the opposite of the above because I know that the US is actually a ****ed up country full of retarded ignorant morons, however the layman might not necessarily believe that...

You're wrong and you've got a stick shoved too far up your arse to admit it!
Is it me, or is MOBIUS a horrible person?

Set in London, mostly filmed in Cardiff, including my old geology labs at Cardiff Uni (at the end of the Taxi driver ep).

Sherlock finds that Cardiff is a real home from Holmes Basically because London is an annoying ****hole...

Again, MOBIUS, that is simply a failure to meet expectations, not a reversal of expectations. Irony involving one'e preferred source of news would be along the lines of a Zionist Israeli preferring Iran's state news service over the Israeli news.

I knew Al couldn't resist. He'd chime in with some sort of "hipster" barb or something else sooner or later.

No, because no one else gives a crap about whatever a 'hipster' is.

Yes, MOBIUS, that's correct - definitions are pedantic.

There is absolutely nothing ironic about this. Everyone knows US news sources are horrible and that BBC news is one of the best in the world.

But it's not even ironic if you put up the strawman that someone should expect news sources in their country to be better than those in other countries.

What is ironic is a Brit being pwned about irony by a Yank.

That would be ironic if only it were true...

                          Macmillan Dictionary definition:

a strange, funny, or sad situation in which things happen in the opposite way to what you would expect
I'm sorry but I don't ever want to be in a position where I have to expect to rely on news sources from agencies from outside of my own country to provide me with better information than my own domestic services - it's utterly shameful...

That is my point and it fits the definition. The fact that it is common knowledge that the US news sources are totally **** still should not be the expectation.

You're essentially making the argument that 2 is the opposite of 3 because it's not 3. The key word in the Macmillan definition is the word opposite.

That's bull****. US news sources are just fine, Oerdin only uses the BBC because he's some sort of worthless hipster douchebag and using a foreign news source makes him feel more cosmopolitan. The only reason he doesn't use Al Jazeera is that he associates it with "sand ******s".
