This should piss off Al and make everyone else happy.
It looks like they were using the regular pork belly bacon instead of the back bacon used in Canada and much of the UK. I like both though the back bacon is a bit meatier and larger so it would have been harder to finish of 75 slices of that. Still, thick cut, smoked, and traditionally cured farm house bacon is something special and it's nice to see it showing up even in the run of the mill super markets these days. It used to be a specialty item you had to get from an actual butcher's shop.
Yeah it looked a bit scrawny to be 'proper' bacon. We're blessed here in Wales that we can easily get our hands on some awesome oak smoked, dry cured back bacon. My partner earned her cheffing spurs at the CIA, so when she says it's the best she's ever tasted, I believe her!
FFS! You would EXPECT the country in which a news event occurred to be the best source for a news item - especially when the news item is about over consumption and eating! Granted I now realise it's their US office - but it's still the B(RITISH)BC!
I bet I buy more stuff made in Wales than you do made in the US, actually. I also bet I buy less crap made in China than you do too...
Believe it or not there is still a ton of stuff made in the US and a large portion of the stuff made in China is made by US owned companies. I believe the US has sunk down to just #3 in exports (with in spitting distance of #2 Germany) but part of that is because the US domestic market is so large so instead of exporting medium sized businesses can do very well just in the domestic market.

That's the ****ing irony you dip**** moron!
Irony involves a reversal of expectations, not merely an event that fails to adhere to expectations. Your example fails on two counts. First, no evidence has been provided thus far that the BBC's article is the best source for this piece of news. More importantly, however, a simple failure to meet expectations is likely just an example of amusement or humor, not a form of irony.
It would be ironic if, say, the person reporting the story had no sense of taste and weren't at all interested in food, because you would expect that a food reporter would be interested in food, and the reality is a reversal of that expectation. I admit this is not a great example of irony, but it is actually an example of irony, as opposed to your example.
Sherlock and Torchwood are filmed here in Cardiff as well, and Being Human is filmed just down the road in Barry Island...
I thought Sherlock was supposed to be set in London. In season 1 they tied in to the old "Sherlock Holmes has a unique knowledge of the geography and geology of London" knowing every ally and roadway and even tracking a killer down because he know which part of London had a specific type of sand found on the sole of an old shoe. In season 1 he was chasing a cab on foot through London but knew how to head him off due to all the one way streets and round abouts.
Anyone brought up that bacon obsession is classic hipster?
