Because we're also a bunch of sexist pigs of course. We have however entrusted the direction of our country to a female leader, not to mention of course our half decade spent under a female head of state. Hows the female president thing going?

So you've conceded that having a woman in charge of your country at some point doesn't prove you aren't sexist. Thank you.

Of course not, there are possibly one or two countries who could possibly try and make that claim, but the UK is certainly not one of them.

Pakistan is a well known beacon for women's rights.

At a guess, because our more generous maternity pay conditions result in a culture of more mothers staying in work (possibly on reduced hours) rather than coming off the record entirely as a "stay at home Mom".

5 minutes on Google proves it's tricky to get comparative figures, but the two following sites seem to indicate that the UK has a higher proportion of women in the overall labour force.

I don't have time to check all the methodologies involved, but I'd guess that women stopping work entirely will cease to feature in Gribbler's graph.

I'm glad I live in a country where politicians don't have to bleat about their religious preferences to get elected. Or show off their children and spouses at hustings, like some livestock at a county fair. Hardly anybody cares what religion you are in politics over here- or whether you have one at all.

QFT. Any time a politician here has mentioned religion recently, the overall response has been 'err, what?'.

Let me get this straight. The British public considers religion to be a private matter, one that shouldn't be a political issue, and you mock American politicians for discussing it. Yet your unwritten constitution (which is super democratic and better than America's in every conceivable way) still has an established church with the power to make laws. You ever hear the one about throwing stones in glass houses?

The irony of the thing huh? Thing is we tend to care about the practical rather than the hypothetical, which is also why our poor people all have healthcare and welfare, while yours die bankrupt and sick.

Actually it did. Most folks were far more afraid of being labeled a racist than a mysoginist. Thus she was fair game for any number of sexist themed attacks from both left and right.

Did you read the bit about both Houses of Parliament needing to pass resolutions agreeing the measure?

If anyone wants to make a case for Britain being a theocracy, head straight for the Lords Spiritual.

Yeah, and one of those Houses of Parliament is the House of Lords, where dozens of bishops have seats. Your country is so full of bizarre anachronisms, it's amazing you have the chutzpah to talk **** about anybody else. Bravo
