All I know is last year LinkedIn made a public share offering that share price more than doubled in value in 24 hours.

IIRC, the ipo was 45, the open was 80, the 1st day high was 120, 1st day close was 90, low since was 60 and high since was 120. Meanwhile, it's sitting at 85 our so, right near the opening price...

Yeah, I have one, but again, it hasn't been updated for a year. Mainly because I am firmly entrenched in a pretty long term project at the moment. But I should have a proper look at it at some point.

I have a profile and I've used it to find short-term contract work since I left my permanent position. It's fairly useful as HR people love to look at it, and I guess it's even more useful if your potential market is huge (I'm restricted to my country and several European countries which don't require visas for Croats). Besides creating a profile make sure you join some groups - that's where the discussion and the opportunities are.

Without attracting too much publicity, LinkedIn has updated their privacy conditions. Without any action from your side, LinkedIn is now permitted to use your name and picture in any of their advertisements.

Some simple actions to be considered:

                  1. Place the cursor on your name at the top right corner of the screen. From
the small pull-down menu that appears, select "settings"
                  2. Then click "Account" on the left/bottom
                  3. In the column next to Account, select the option "Manage Advertising Preferences"
                  4. Finally un-tick the box "LinkedIn may show me ads on third-party websites."
                  5. and Save

How to inform your connections? Simple: Via Inbox > Compose message in Linkedin, you can send a message to 50 connections at once. All who will appreciate being informed.
                  .
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

I'm confused. The "LinkedIn may show me ads on third-party websites" does not mean they can use your name and picture on advertisements.

You can use it to profile people who are likely to have embarrassing porn on their computer to blackmail them with.

The funny thing about LinkedIn is that it got even people like me, who don't generally like making their private data public, to register and create a profile. Money talks I guess, and nobody has enough of it to stay out of the market
