All I know is last year LinkedIn made a public share offering that share price more than doubled in value in 24 hours.

Yeah, I have one, but again, it hasn't been updated for a year. Mainly because I am firmly entrenched in a pretty long term project at the moment. But I should have a proper look at it at some point.Speaking of Erith:

I have a profile and I've used it to find short-term contract work since I left my permanent position. It's fairly useful as HR people love to look at it, and I guess it's even more useful if your potential market is huge (I'm restricted to my country and several European countries which don't require visas for Croats). Besides creating a profile make sure you join some groups - that's where the discussion and the opportunities are.

Without attracting too much publicity, LinkedIn has updated their privacy conditions. Without any action from your side, LinkedIn is now permitted to use your name and picture in any of their advertisements.
Some simple actions to be considered:
1. Place the cursor on your name at the top right corner of the screen. From
the small pull-down menu that appears, select "settings"
2. Then click "Account" on the left/bottom
3. In the column next to Account, select the option "Manage Advertising Preferences"
4. Finally un-tick the box "LinkedIn may show me ads on third-party websites."
5. and Save
How to inform your connections? Simple: Via Inbox > Compose message in Linkedin, you can send a message to 50 connections at once. All who will appreciate being informed. No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

I'm confused. The "LinkedIn may show me ads on third-party websites" does not mean they can use your name and picture on advertisements."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

LinkedIn is also a great phishing tool“It is no use trying to 'see through' first principles. If you see through everything, then everything is transparent. But a wholly transparent world is an invisible world. To 'see through' all things is the same as not to see.”

You can use it to profile people who are likely to have embarrassing porn on their computer to blackmail them with.“As a lifelong member of the Columbia Business School community, I adhere to the principles of truth, integrity, and respect. I will not lie, cheat, steal, or tolerate those who do.”
