  • What's the deal with the interest in Super Bowl commercials?

    Well?

It's still mind boggling to me that anyone but marketing/advertising folks give a **** about commercials. It's a sad reflection on our society and obsession with commercialism to the point where we ascribe artistic and cultural value to crass advertisements!

A highly anticipated game involving millionaire athletes in which major corporations attempt to air commercials that will generate a buzz has **** all to do with "social justice".

I misread the title as having 'incest'...

I could have sworn the title said "social justice quiz" a few minutes ago. I must be losing my mind.

Like any good Nazi you want the government to regulate culture and make sure no one listen to crass things like jazz.

Also, I think it's a sad reflection on our society that some people would be more interested in millionaire athletes than information about goods and services that improve our daily lives.

It said just "Super Bowl!" or something like that for me. Mayhap there are still a few glitches in the system?

Anyway, Al is of course 100% right that the Superbowl should have nothing to do with crass, overpriced commercial endeavors passing themselves off as entertainment.

Well, people have to have a reason to go to all these parties, and the football game itself obviously isn't cutting it...

It's still mind boggling to me that anyone but rapists and thugs give a **** about rap. It's a sad reflection on our society when songs about raping women and killing people is considered socially acceptable and something to aspire to

What's the deal with you bringing sports subjects to O.T. when people in Sports tell you that you're full of crap?
Does the opinion of the uninterested and uninformed mean so much to you? It obviously does, since you do it so frequently.

OK, great unwashed, give Al the support and love he needs so desperately.

People watch the commercials, because they are entertaining, not because of what they sell. For the most part.

Advertising for me only works for new things, not already established products.

You're just mad that you jinxed Tebow by picking him.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

serious answer: the game has a high amount of viewers. viewers see the ads. advertisers pay in order to reach a high amount of viewers.

if super bowl has the highest amount of viewers of all programs, advertisers have to pay a lot of money in order to broadcast their ads and therefore it is only natural that ads that cost much attract attention and interest in themselves among professionals whose career is related to marketing
