I agree. Shoot him from cover and explain that you felt your life was in danger. I would have no problem believing that.

I can't speak on every state but pretty sure the standard is, the use of force is justified only if there is reasonable imminent danger of serious bodily harm, immediate force is necessary to prevent that danger, and no more force is used than necessary to defend against that danger.

Where are our lawyers at? I'm pretty sure I'm right on this one.

If the laws are stupid why should a jury be expected to convict someone based on a stupid law?

I hate to tell you the obvious, but you and the people that you know are no more important than anyone else, KH. Someone knew the owners of this pet. These owners were people with feelings, just like the people that you know. I don't think you would have said this, had you thought a little longer.

There are 15000 murders year in the US. Perhaps another few hundred thousand violent deaths a year across the globe. Millions of rapes, assaults, child beatings etc. This is way below any of those things. Sorry, I just don't have the energy to have an emotional response to this.
