Heroin addicts rarely become violent while under the influence, drunks on the other hand... Thats my experience.Comment

Heroin addicts are more likely to put or leave their kids in atrocious situations. Drunks do so less often. Drunks are a lot more rational, in general.
I know many drunks/alcoholics. The worst time a person close to me has mistreated their kids was during opiate addiction.
I am sure that there are more people abused due to alcohol, but that is purely because so many more people use alcohol.
