  • How can you run on a party ballot if you're not a member of that party? Shouldn't you have to join the party first?

That may well be a reasonable requirement.

        • It's all self proclaimed. As you'll note even that Jones guy
“Philosophically, I’m a National Socialist,” Jones said. “Officially, I don’t belong to any party except my own, the America First Committee.”

          • Anyone can run claiming to be a member of a given party. To be the actual nominee for a party you must win the nomination in the primary. Most congressional primaries haven't happened yet. He's probably running in the primary and won't win.

            • But remember the birthers (who just about every Republican politician still pander to) say their hatred and fear of the president isn't based on race.... Oops.

                • There is absolutely no wow about it. They've been courting the racists and white supremists for a very long time. At least since Nixon's southern strategy began back in 1968. Before this the party elites have had enough sense to keep the real nutjobs away from the spotlight and decision making but since Obama won they've gone complete, and I do mean completely, crazy. The tea baggers, birtherism, claims the president is a muslim terrorist sleeper agent, and **** like that.

                    • Not that long ago in ILLINOIS we had a unknown rouge that won the Dem nomination for Lt. Governor. The party eventually convinced him to step aside. But it took considerable effort.

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Scott Lee Cohen, Illinois Democratic Gov. Pat Quinn’s embattled runningmate, tried to defend his reputation on a Chicago public television news program last night and again said he would not step aside.

Accusations against Cohen include using anabolic steroids, threatening an ex-girlfriend with a knife and trying to sexually force himself on his ex-wife in 2005. The Chicago pawnbroker took the party’s No. 2 spot in Tuesday’s primary after spending almost $2 million of his own money to defeat five other candidates including several state lawmakers.

You guys don't choose your candidates? You still let party bosses in smoke filled rooms make these decisions for you? Congratulations, you suck at democracy.

Why did he spend all that money? Shouldn't it have been obvious he wasn't electable? I guess he must have had a huge ego.
