I'm worried you might make British schoolchildren watch videos of Walter Cronkite in class.

Don't they also get massive amount of welfare payments from the rest of Israel to sit around and "study" (as you mentioned government money)? So someone is scared of them for some reason.

Or Israel just has special interests lobbying the government for stupid handouts, just like in the US. Americans aren't afraid of corn farmers are they?

This is accurate. The ultra-orthodox parties have like five out of 120 seats or something like that in the Israeli parliament, but because Israel never has a majority government, major parties court their vote in the coalition by offering them goodies, much in the same way both major parties offer farm states goodies in order to collect senate votes.

Okay, forget abortion then, since this about legislating laws based on the Bible. Why do Christian fundamentalists only pick passages they think are anti-gay, but ignore all other moral issues that I have in the OP?

Not defending slavery, but the Bible does not present slavery being a good thing (even in the OT). The Bible also describes things such as the year of jubilee at which point all land returned to the family that originally owned it (this was the major source of wealth, I think) and all slaves were freed. Additionally, there was the sabbath years where hebrew slaves were freed.

They don't believe in the Bible.

Maybe it's because of this thread.

I was applying the same "reasoning" to other Bible passages that these Christian fundamentalists are conveniently ignoring.
It's not the same reasoning unless you are saying someone wants to stone gay people. You are the worst advocate for gay rights since the guy who posted gay porn on facebook.

I agree, it is a problem.

Do you think there are many christian fundamentalists (on apolyton) you are reaching with this message?

Do you think your combative presentation is going to reach any who are here?
