Smoking a few joints a week isn't as bad as smoking a couple of cartons of cigarettes. What a surprise.
And yes while reading that article I kept thinking the author was stoned out of his mind.

And jimmy crack corn and I don't care. Make it all legal. Make avenues of support available to people who finally figure out that they shouldn't be doing the "all" though.
I don't consider pot to be a drug, but I also don't like government intervention. You worry about things you can solve. Take the money spent on the war against drugs and the generated taxes and figure out the best way to utilize the funds.
We're light years ahead of you guys on this issue and I doubt I'll see that happen in this country in my lifetime. You could be waiting a long time.
It could probably be legal in Colorado this year. No doubt California will pull it off next time they try. And ****, with as comically lax as medical marijuana is in California (and many other states) already, it is basically legalized now.

As long as employers can discriminate against people for using marijuana, and as long as people are still subject to arrest, it's silly to act like it's "basically legalized."
Agreed.
Especially in Illinois where if you're involved in a traffic accident and there is a fatality, and they find any in your blood, they assume you were drug impaired and are thereby screwed. Considering how long it stays in your system, this is just not even close to being fair.

I don't like the term intervention. If we make it legal and collect taxes that makes us drug dealers.
Then we are already drug dealers.

Smoking tobacco used to be good for the lungs, that was a long time ago. Then there were "studies" that showed tobacco was pretty harmless. Later it became bad for the lungs. Nowadays tobacco causes lung cancer.

Will marijuana go the same way?
Marijuana used to "cause" insanity and death, so no, probably not.
