CBS is the topic. Their distortion of facts, and their biased reporting is the topic. Why should anyone be familiar with the topic before speaking on the topic?

I didn't look at your viewership links earlier but it should be pointed out - People PAY to watch the cable networks whereas they can get CBS for free. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the broadcast networks (including ABC and NBC) score much higher numbers. Free has a way of making that happen.

Again, doesn't say squat about quality.
It says a great deal about influence.

For the record, I don't watch CBS Evening News. I've seen it, and I'm familiar with it, but it is much more popular with older Americans than with younger Americans. I'm not defending CBS as a quality news source. In fact, if you read what I wrote, you'll never see me say anything about it being a "quality" news source. I have said that it is highly regarded by millions of people, and that it is very influential.

    • So it's popular among ignorant Americans and any foreigner who isn't familiar with it is ignorant?

Now that we've got that sorted out we can get on to more important matters.

            • I somehow doubt Ron Paul has ever smoked a joint.

              I also think he should.

              • He doesn't have to. All I ask is to be left alone. It's the other side that demands conformity and obedience.

He was saying that perhaps it may be ok if the subsequent coverage talked about Paul. So knowledge of how trusted or not trusted as a news source is somewhat irrelevant to that.

Besides, if he knew CBS was considered an trusted news source, then don't you think that his questioning of bias is more justified?

Furthermore, as Laz (aka Bugs) is known as one of the most intelligent posters in this site's history, attacking him of being ignorant reflects somewhat badly on yourself.

Paul doesn't advocate you be left alone. He just doesn't want the Federal government bothering you. He's A-OK with state/local government throwing you in jail for it.

He was right to ask about the context of HL's youtube video, and I gave him a link to the full story. It had nothing to do with Ron Paul. In fact, the piece never mentioned him, even though he was polling in second place. After he saw the context he withheld judgement because he claimed he didn't know if it was typical crappy journalism on CBS's part. While CBS is prone to error, they are well regarded, and the sort of bias shown in that report is not normal on any network. If Bugs just accepted that the piece was contemptible, and clearly biased, I'd have no problem. Instead he persisted in mocking Ron Paul and his supporters, and gave a pass to a national broadcaster showing obvious bias in its political news.

Before or after he saw the full story? If it was before, then yeah, but after you see the entire segment there's really no question that it was biased.

Thanks, but I've been posting here for ten years, and I'm well aware of his reputation and name change. If I thought he was stupid I wouldn't be so upset with him. Kidicious can't upset me, because he's just too stupid/crazy to be taken seriously. I expect more from Bugs, and when he claims not to know anything about CBS I'm going to call him out. Honestly, I think he's lying about not knowing CBS's reputation. He's too smart and too worldly to really not know that CBS is one of our major networks, and to not know that it is generally well respected. I call him ignorant because I hope to shame him into admitting that he was lying. I think that he's just feigning ignorance so that he doesn't have to admit that there is media bias against Ron Paul.

That's a thousand steps in the right direction, and he is the only candidate proposing even that much. The rest of the Republicans, and Barack Obama all agree on continuing the federal prohibition of marijuana. Ending federal prohibition would be a huge, even if the states didn't do ****.

Americans, in my experiences, tend to be way too arrogant in expecting people from other countries to know the intricacies of our country. I am remembering roughly 10 years ago my cousins, all highly intelligent folks from Great Britain (who are now professionals in law & medicine) in their late teens / early 20s flabbergasted when entering Western New York State, until they were explained New York is a State as well as a City.

Holy ****, what is it with Ron Paul supporters and having delusions that the whole world is conspiring against Paul? Really, you think some British guy must know what old people in America think of an American television network and he's denying it as part of some half-baked plot to slander Ron Paul?
